Sitting around reading Chinese

It's actually kind of interesting

Did you know that you can make a post to blogger with text message? I think it's pretty cool. Hopefully this post is less than the max characters for a text...

Pork Belly follow up post

It's what bacon is made of

Hello!

Got back from a 10-mile (or so) bike ride. I'm tired. You know what really tastes good? Braised pork belly. Problem is the outrageously high fat content but it is sooooo good.

Awesome logic (it involves trains)

Problem: Current trains are crap. Even though many advancements to them have been made, there are still quite a few problems with them. Significant amounts of drag, friction, and pollution. Even without solving these issues, shipping on trains is much more economical than a truck due to lower friction and lack of stopping.

Lets break the problem down into parts:

Drag: It is the biggest opposing force on the train and causes it to be much less efficient than it's potential. Trains have been designed to have less drag but it is still the number one cause of wasted energy on the train.

Solution: Take the out the air. Though this sounds crazy, it can be done. We could have a tunnel that is a complete vacuum with a train running in it. If there's no air, then there's no drag. Simple

New problem: So we now have a train running though a vacuum. This creates another problem as well. Due to the nature of using ignited fuels, oxygen is required to make the train move. Don't worry. This problem will be soon solved.

Friction, fuel, and pollution: Friction of train wheels against a track is going to create friction, no matter how slight or minimal you can make it. This might not be as bad as drag but it is still a major problem to be noted. Since the beginning the steam engine, trains have been running on fuel that requires oxygen, as said before. We should fix this too. Pollution is a nasty problem too. Current trains burn diesel, which will release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. They have the potential to make the earth warmer and create acid rain, which is bad for the plants.

Solution: Maglev. It does not require air in order to move. Since it floats above the track it has virtually no friction. The thing runs electromagnetically with electricity, which does not pollute. Isn't that great?

Maglev in a vacuum tunnel. This is going to change the world. With such a contraption, we could travel from Seattle to Beijing via a below-ocean tunnel in less than one hour! This means you can leave Seattle at 9PM and arrive in Beijing at 7AM. Since the only thing that the train has to overcome is gravity, once the train gets going at speed, it will take minimal energy to keep it propelled.

Soon, airplanes are going to be history.

Friday the 13th is today

Bad luck? I doubt it. For all of you non-urban people, there's generally no 13th floor in the tall buildings.

There are a few things I still got to do today: design the new home network, consider buying new computers and maybe a cheap and small TV. Oh, and I also got to read a bit more than my usual amount.

Home network is going to be having greater utilization of the already in set internal wiring though the house. I'm trying to figure out a way to expand the range of the router by choosing the best placement. (I might place an in-home DNS server to make websites I frequently go to load faster)

Reading: I'm going to be done with The Book Thief by tomorrow or Saturday. From there I'll read something else. I'm also thinking about the wi-fi version of the kindle. It would be a lot more convenient to read compared to a giant heavy book. (I'd also be able to read blogs and newspapers)

Well, back to work...

In order to be on par with the rest of the earth

I shall now use the metric system and deprecate the old English measurement standards.

However, if you specifically using the old English measurements, I will still do so but will not be done as standard. Furthermore this option must be requested each time you ask for weights/measures of something.

Thank you

Friday

I went on a 10 mile bike ride today. Then I had about a half a liter of water when I got home. Tiring.

Sexy looking window effects are just awesome :)

It's now august

Well, there's still lots of work to do. I have websites to create and other random designs to work on.

bye for now

So much to do

Have you ever been so backed up in work yet still seem to have free time? Well I guess it's more of a which came first:chicken or egg? situation. Probably why I'm so backed up in work is because of all of the free time I give myself in an effort to sustain my lax life while getting more work done. It worked.

Even though I might not work as fast as I did four years ago, my mental capacity seems to be coming back. Pretty soon, it will beat some of my old records from the past.

Oh, I can touch my toes now without bending my knees. First time in six years...

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Hmm today

Is sunday. Tomorrow will be monday. Another day of boring hard work.

Tired

It seems like I have posted this like a million times. Then again, maybe not. After all, there are only 500 posts on this blog

My summer plan

  • Study/work 20 hours a day
  • Ride my bike some
  • Hope everything will be alright
Cheerful, eh?

Well, that's all there is today. I can't promise that I'll post again soon.

It's nice to be back

I've been taking a vacation from the internet the past few days and having some good time out and about enjoying nature instead of electronic images of people running into walls. I guess I'll be posting here more often than before. However, I don't know if it will stay this way. There are so many problems going on right now and I'm not exactly sure of the best solution for all of them. (website issues, catching up on reading, dating, trying to stay awake with no feelings of joy or sorrow)

It's nice to be here.

I can't sleep

Yet I can't stay awake. I hate it when this happens. Sleepiness and sleeplessness do not mix. I kinda wish they did though. Perhaps we would then all be able to work 24/7 without stop or rest. I guess another way to be up 24/7 is to have two brains. One for daytime and one for the night. One brain can rest while the other does the work and swap after one gets fatigued. Or, both could be on as an effort to increase processing times.

Can't sleep. Can't stay awake

Thursday, June 24, 2010

Summer is here

Time for hot weather, sunny days and ice cream. I think I'll be staying indoors most of the time though.

Of note, calcium absorption is also important to me so I think maybe I'll spend some time out in the sun. We'll see.

Tuesday, June 22, 2010

Yah!

Fighting the world of all its ignorances...

I noticed that when people stand with their mouth open, they look stupid.

Saturday, June 19, 2010

I just realized something...

It's saturday!!!!

:)

To be or not to be; That's not a question

Has there ever been a decision that you just couldn't make up your mind about? Has this ever happened and then you gain new information that just tipped the scales in one direction without thought after the opportunity passed?

I hate it when this happens

:(

Stupid decisions

I made a stupid decision yesterday. I'm not sure why I did it or what made me do it. Everyone told me to do something and I didn't listen. Just a few minutes ago, someone told me why I should have listened. Now, I'm sulking in front of a computer typing this wondering what to do next.

How was I supposed to know!?

Looking about the world

I really can't describe how the world around us changes everyday. It seems like there is always more trouble, joy, misery, regret, and success each and every day. What I find most amazing is that, despite everything that goes on around people, there is always a drive to keep on going. Nobody looks back at this world. The past has past. The only thing to look forward to is the future...

And yet, as I write this, the question frequently hits me, What is the future? Why can't things be better as of now instead of waiting around for everything to come to you? Will the world really change?

Many people have heard the story the Boy Who Cried Wolf but do you really think, in today's modern society, that everyone will go rush out to save a boy for no incentive whatsoever? A short summery of today's version of Boy Who Cried Wolf would be A Boy screams Wolf! and nobody comes. The same boy screams Wolf! again and still nobody comes. The wolf actually comes. The boy gets eaten.

Ah yes... modern 2010

Sunday, May 23, 2010

hello all-

how's everyone doing today?

  • Sing songs while eating
  • eat when in doubt

Life and the world around us

I've realized something. I don't know the names of many of the people that I see everyday. It's astonishing when I thought about how many there were. How could the world be somewhat unified if even when you don't know people you see everyday? There's just something about this that just blasts at me for a need to change.

But for now...

Just say hi to someone who you see everyday. It's amazing how many times you will say it. That is of course if you are not a hermit.

double sigh

I just noticed that I haven't made an animated frown in over a year

People went to the moon 40 years ago while the common cold has no cure

I simply cannot believe that the common cold still has no cure
people have gone to the moon dug
rocks out of the ground and made them into metal while the cold an illness from the beginning of man still plagues us today

sure there are meds that make you feel a bit better but there is nothing but time to actually make your cold go away

How could this be freaking possible? Surely someone has realized that this cant go on much longer

Morning All -

sorry I haven't been posting for awhile. I've had other things to do.

Sunday, March 28, 2010

It's Sunday

I don't know what to write.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

I never noticed

I only made one post for the month of march on this blog. Life has taken over me for the past few months. Compmon.com coming along together. However, it's quite late for me and I got still have quite a bit to do so I'll have to cut this post short.

good night

Did you know that?

  • The word clip has opposite meanings
  • There is more crime in cities that spend more on police (why else would you spend more on police?)
  • There's no medicine that can destroy viruses because they are nonliving. Drugs for viral illnesses can only treat symptoms (aka make you feel better)
  • People would be much happier if they learned to forgive
  • Uranium is not something you should be around.
  • It is impossible to travel over the speed of light (sigh)
  • If you lived on Mars, it would take several hours to load a web page from Earth

I've changed the background back

My original goal in mind was to match this with the rest of compmon.com Unfortunately, my plan did not go as hoped. The background here was simply awful. I realized that it was not worth having it match the rest of the website if it looked terrible.

If anyone hates the old look, comment and I'll get back to you. To be honest, I'm not sure what I should do.

Linux and Windows on a Mac it just keeps getting better

I'm currently installing Fedora 12 on my mac using VirtualBox. With Linux, I'm going to test some of the fun things I can do with compitz-fusion.

I wonder what I'll do today

I don't have much else to say

Finding answers to mysteries is easier when working backwords

It's like when you're working on a maze. The maze is much easier if you start from the end and work towards the beginning.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010

How about looking for the answers by looking backwards?

more on this later I have to go

We need to rethink this world

Can you believe that after decades of research and billions of dollars we still have not been able to cure viral sicknesses?

Even the common cold does not have cure. (Maybe that's why it's so common)

Perhaps we shouldn't rely on our current way of thinking. Our goal should be to benefit others thus benefiting ourselves

On the other note, there probably isn't any real progress in making a drug that can get rid of viruses because the drug companies would only make money once instead of constantly.

science and the world

Science: We look deep down into the world to find and solve the hidden mysteries of our daily lives.

World: Who cares? I'm hungry. Lets go and get some pizza

Alright...

People have said that there will be world peace. I support that.

People have also said that there will be no world peace. I don't support that.

People have also said the Earth will be doomed. I am against that!!! You are totally wrong!

It has been quite interesting these past few years.

Yawn4life will remain as is for a while

Well the world could have ended

but it didn't be be fortuante for that!

Also, everyone should try to be a bit more let say... optimistic

Thursday, January 14, 2010

Happy late new year!

I'm right now going about making compmon.com a better website. This is going to be difficult
